Ivy League school janitor graduates with honors
For years, Gac Filipaj mopped floors, cleaned toilets and took out trash at Columbia University.A refugee from war-torn Yugoslavia, he eked out a living working for the Ivy League school. But Sunday was payback time: The 52-year-old janitor donned a cap and gown to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in classics.
As a Columbia employee, he didn’t have to pay for the classes he took. His favorite subject was the Roman philosopher and statesman Seneca, the janitor said during a break from his work at Lerner Hall, the student union building he cleans.
…
Matt Damon looks super weird.

Here’s an awkward story.
I already have my wedding colors and wedding date picked out. I’m 18, nowhere near being engaged.
I just watch too much TLC :’(
and a budget of $60K if it happens this summer…goes down $20K for every year after that :)

Someone said to me today: Did you see how “awesome” ends with “me” and “ugly” starts with “u”.
It left me speechless.
I still am actually.LOL.

When Animals Wish They Could Attack of the Day: 3-year-old Sofia Walker comes face to resin-bonded glass to face with Malik the lion at New Zealand’s Wellington Zoo.
Carnivore manager Paul Horton said Mailk has been known to get “a little bit stroppy,” which I imagine is Kiwi talk for “majorly pissed off that he has to spend his entire life trapped in a cage being mocked by little girls.”
lol

Things that make you go hmmmm…
I was watching a commercial last night for the show “All American Muslim,” and it was a promo for the next show where they discuss 9/11. One of the women made a statement essentially saying when the terrorists hijacked those planes, they also hijacked her religion - that of Islam. When I first heard this promo (which has been airing for days now), I dismissed it, thinking it was a ridiculous thing to say in light of all that America lost that day…however, now I have had time to re-think.
I now believe her statement is truth. If you spend any time at all speaking with those less tolerant of other faiths or belief systems, you will quickly see that there is a HUGE sense of prejudice regarding Muslims…many people truly believe that somewhere beneath what we see lies a potential terrorist.
There are many different people in this country (and world) who also call themselves Christian. Many do not share my same beliefs, values or way of life. There are even some who believe that shouting hateful words at the funerals of dead soldiers in the name of my God is okay - even commanded. I have a small bit of better understanding about how it feels to have your religion hijacked and a much higher level of respect for this woman and all those who share her faith…(not the crazy ones who THINK they do).Unlike myself, they cannot hide their faith - they are required to wear certain clothing so that everyone knows who and what they are, and they are then open to whatever treatment someone feels the need to send their way.
What if I were required to wear my Christianity in a way that would leave me open to the same scorn, ridicule and open hatred?
